Tried the update and looks like I've fried my iPhone, all it shows is a
picture of a USB cable and the iTunes logo. When I connect the iPhone to the PC, (Vista Ultimate), all it does is asks
me to insert a disc, which I haven't got, or go looking for drivers online &
on the PC and I'm afraid to re-load iTunes in case I loose my back-up for
the iPhone, (this hold my life already and I've only had the phone 6 weeks,
it know more about me than my wife).I've tried resetting the iPhone by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake
button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until
the Apple logo appears. and it just goes back to showing the same picture of
the USB lead & iTunes logo.Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

normal; it just took longer than with previous updates. I don't know
why.--

If you are concerned about losing the copy on your hard drive, make a
copy of that to removable media.--

I think some of it is here on a PC.
Documents and Settings -- User -- Application Data -- Apple
ComputerTo find out where the applications are, just right-click on one of
them and select Show in Windows Explorer. Then select all and copy
them to removable media.Be sure to test that your backup restores properly. And whenever
you run into trouble, you hunker down and do the most fundamental
operations first (like making sure you have a raw copy of the
stuff you are trying to fix, before actually trying to fix
anything).Using Windows, I have been trained to make backups the hard way. I
backup iPhone data individually. Currently, I just keep removable
media backup copies of the Windows Address Book (it can be
exported), Internet bookmarks, and important/useful applications.

Thanks for the help, I've just attached my iPhone to my daughters PC and it
reloaded the software after the second attempt. I then connected it to my PC
and it asked me if I wanted to restore it and I'm now back to square one
with a working iPhone and all my precious data apps and music restored.
Strange but hey it works."John Doe" <jdoe@usenetlove.invalid> wrote in message
