Interesting. I find battery life for my iPhone is way better than my
previous Palm Treo, and just as good, if not a bit better, than my
previous Blackberry!

What about it makes you say it sucks, and to what other device are you
comparing it?

Yes I did and so far no problems. Just took the usual 20 minutes for the
process to complete

Battery still sucks though!

My daughters Tilt for example. She does a lot more than I do.

My brothers Blackberry (heavy business use) for another. They can go two to
three days with emails etc before recharging

I have to recharge daily. And I don't use Apps or games or videos or text
messaging. Brand new, all default.

Got the iPhone for the data plan and calls only and it runs down pretty
darn quick. First Apple product and the battery makes it a disappointment.
Lots of other users in the Apple forum report same issues with 3G and 3GS
and all the suggestions are stuff like turn this off, turn that off etc etc.
Whats the use then?

I will tolerate it until 2 years are up.

Anyway that's my experience, others mileage vary, no problem!

Agreed agreed agreed. It could be worse though. My first (defective)
iPhone sucked batteries twice as fast.

I will buy a spare battery pack if the issue becomes problematic,
but I am used to toting a spare battery pack with devices that are
a tiny fraction as functional. Unless there is something wrong
with the specific battery/charger, the technology can handle
frequent recharging. Mine came with both a wall charger and a USB
charger, so charging is easy enough.

If I'm at home it's only light usage so I get 3 days between charges at
work it varies but most of the time it's two days unless I'm travelling
and using it to surf/play games ... err sorry using apps.

A backup battery pack (several around) is a good idea if you're away
from a USB port. The battery life is poor but then the screen is big
for a phone. My wife's LG viewty doesn't do much better under similar
usage.

I have used it for navigation on sea (backup, Navionics sea charts)
where it is constantly on, and it does a full day (as do dedcated
devices).
To charge it is not difficult, be it with the very small USB charger
supplied, from 12 V or even via solar charger.

I am happy with that.
