Took my iphone back to the Apple store, they suggested a new SIM from O2.
Got a new SIM from O2 and it didn't make any difference. Went back to the
Apple store and they gave me a new iphone, it recognised both the new & old
SIMS.So far so good...
Got home and tried the update again... exactly the same thing happened "The
sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported", neither
SIM will work!

I had a chance to ask. Now... If the 3.1 update fails (tiny
chance, but anything is possible) I will very much suspect my
connection. Why waste the trip?archived from misc.phone.mobile.iphone

Have you ever been surprised? Besides, if it is not the
connection, then you will know whether they gave you good hardware
by doing the update right there in the store.--
