Windows CE 4.2 no downloads

I have an IPAQ 5555 with Windows CE 4.2. When I download software from the internet it downloads but the OS doesn't recognize the file. I have downloaded from Microsoft and had the same problem. HELP!!!

Are you trying to install directly on the pda? most pda software has to be installed from the pc. It will come up with a message saying "... is not a valid pocket pc application" or something along those lines if it is supposed to be installed from the pc.
