Question guys, I already have an old Palm M105, which i love. Way back before there were color screens... Anyways... I use it quite frequently throughout the day as most PDA users due. The one feature i would like to add to my PDA would be web access. This way i could keep up with my emails and check different sites for info. No biggie. But i know they don't make expansion cards for my PDA to do this so i will have to upgrade. I am partial to Palm, but i am considering a windows based PDA.
I would like the WIFI to be built in, but will sacrifice purchasing a expansion card if the application is right.
What is the best bang for my buck to accomplish this task? All i need to do is add the wifi capability and i'm happy. What new products are small and meet these specs, or do i need to purchase a PDA that is older (like a year or so) and upgrade it a little. Thanks for your help.

have a look on the HP website dude. HP do some great Ipaq`s which are far far more versatile than palms.they all come with XP or rather windows 2005 CE for PDA`s and almost all modern PDA`s come with built in WIFI as per standard now.HP do a PDA/Phone on the cingular network that also has a built in GPS to support Tom Tom navigation software. but in my honest opinion definitly stick with and IPAQ there without a doubt the best i have ever used.

Yes, HP is really the way to go. I have an HP 6510 and I love it. I use it to get work e-mails through Cingular cellular services through Goodlink. I chose Cingular because they have the biggest nation wide cellular network. I also use this device as a cell phone.
I know you only need a WIFI capable PDA, but if you also have a cell phone and would like to integrate them together, spend $400 on an HP 6510 with a 2 year service, and this could potentially save you money. Otherwise look into the Verizon Treo Mobile device, this is a little smaller than the 6510 and more of a cell phone style.
Let me know if you ever decide to go this route and I can definately help you out way more.

I too vote for the Palm TX. Mine replaced and older HP and the WiFi works great and so small too.
Just me and my trusty old Toshiba.
Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without

What is the deal with the WIFI connection? Can you only go to websites that have the WAP webpage built or regular websites too? I tried to use the web browser at my local CompUsa and it was difficult to get to some sites i often use. Google, gmail, work sites, etc.
Let me know. Thanks!

I have an MDA Vario - mini PDA with WiFi & it's brilliant for browsing - haven't yet found any sites with problems - may be something to do with Windows Mobile 5 which, from what I gather, has many improvements over 2003 - primarily you don't lose data when shut down. Only complaint is that the small screen size makes it difficult to read Google Maps, but that's a small price to pay.
As far as the Vario itself is concerned, I admit I bought it to use equally as a phone as well as a PDA but it hasn't disappointed me in either case. Outlook syncs easily with my desktop & I keep all my contacts, pricelists, quotes etc. on there now - a 1Gb miniSD card backs up everything plus provides music! The cut-down version of Word is limited but adequate for basic documents - Excel handles all I want & with the Wifi & GPRS I can get whatever I want wherever I want it. It's got a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which I'm getting very proficient at and auto landscape mode makes document handling & browsing even easier. The camera's not bad either!

couldnt agree more.totally concur with teh above poster as i have the vario 2 and migrated from the HP2210 to the vario as i wanted an all in one.the vario is excellent for absolutely everything.GPRS WIFI WEP encryption Sync data etc etc.the only thing its falls over on is the tom tom software although when i bought the vario is was brand new and the support for windows mobile 5 was minimal.added with crap and unintelligient user feedback to MS siting security issues with active sync 3.9 which prompted them to remove the wireless sync feature from active syncs 4x upwards!! but thats something im sure MS may resolve.
