synching outlook2000Blackjack PDA

I am unable to sync my new Samsung Blackjack with Outlook 2000 on my laptop. Am am able to select(check) synching for Windows mobile,however, it does not allow me to select contacts, email or tasks. It also gives a message that outlook is not the default(it is the default).I downloaded the Activesync update from he Windows update site. My operating system is Vista,however, I am still using Outlook 2000. The data cable is securely placed. I hope someone can give guidance. Thanks seliciag
