Sync IPAQ via Bluetooth Connection?

I have a project where I need to figure out how to use a Bluetooth Compaq IPAQ to contact the Bluetooth Sony Ericsson T68i phone and dial into our corporate network's RAS server and establish a connection in order to sync up the IPAQ. So far, the two Bluetooth devices definitely see each other, are paired, and the IPAQ DOES get the phone to dial out.....problem is, though....that in using this connection, it won't establish the RAS connection. If you simply pick up the phone and dial the RAS server this way, it works fine. We've confirmed that our RAS settings are correct, and that the phone does have data transmission service. If anyone can offer any suggestions or anything, I'd appreciate it.

Are you using AT&T or T-Mobile GSM service with your phone? AT&T does NOT support Cellular data calls (RAS). You can dial the number manually but the system won't support the actual handshake between the phone's modem and the RAS server.
T-Mobile does work but with some caveats.

The service on the phone is AT@T. I'm not familiar with GSM.
