I have a Sony Clie PEG-N760C. It has been working fine for awhile. The other day it started beeping at me - I was afraid it would run out of batteries so I turned it off.
Now it won't turn on again. I have tried the hold switch in both positions. I have tried just pressing the power button and also holding down the power button. The little light on the power button doesn't even come on.
I have also tried pressing the resest button on the back. The first time I pressed it , the little light on the power button actually came on for a second, but that was it - it still wouldn't turn on. When I tried pressing reset again, the little light didn't even come on.
I'm sorry, I don't know the exact operating system because I can't turn it on. The sticker says 4.1, but I'm pretty sure I upgraded it to whatever was most current when I bought it 6-7 months ago.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Fixed it!
Here's what I had to do:
Plug it into the cradle, make sure the green light on the cradle is on.
With it still in the cradle, hold down the power button, then press the reset button on the back while still holding down power button.
Initialization screen comes up, memory is cleared, do a sync to restore memory.

I had a similar problem and your fix helped me.
My problem was a little different. I was getting a fatal error message on the display screen. When I tapped reset, it would go through the reset process, but came up with the same error message. It was also not letting me do a hard reset by using the reset button on the back.
If still in the cradle, I can't access the reset button in the back without taking apart the cradle.
I tried your fix above by holding down the power button while in the cradle, then tapping the reset button on the display.
