Running Pda Progs on a Pocket pc?

I was talking to someone on IRc and he was saying his pocket pc was able to use his old pda programs. He didnt know why but they worked. I know there is an emulator for the pocket pc but i heard its very slow and buggy. Anybody know about that or anything i mentioned? ANy help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
