Hi

I am in search of a small palm OS system to replace my rex. It looks like there are not any as small as the Rex, but is there something out there that is small enough to fit in my pants pocket comfortably? I don't need bells and whistles, just the basics. No wireless connections, color or B&W will do, . . . Cost should be less than $200 if possible, but certainly less than $300.

Any ideas?

Thanks much

Steve

I looked into this for quite some time myself. I wanted to make sure that it would "grow" according to my personal & business needs. After my search? The Sony Clie' PEG-TG50 (if you can still find it)! It uses the Palm 5.0 OS. I bought mine 9/03 for $296.00. I needed something that was a true "pocket" computer - I carry it in my front pants pocket. It has a flip cover - no need to put it into a case or some kind of "bag". It's 1/2" thick with the cover closed. Highest quality 320 x 320 display, built in lighted keypad under cover, fast processor, mp3 player, nice speaker & headphone jack, some nice software, voice recorder, bluetooth, infared, etc. I've not used the bluetooth yet, but I can print stuff out by pointing it at my printer with it's infared port. Cool. I did buy Documents To Go for it so I can view and edit Excel & Word documents. Also a 128MB memory stick. I "shrunk" some photos because no need to view a 4 X 6 photo on a small screen. I have more that 2600 photos on my Sony Clie'! Most of the photos are used for my business. Of course I use it for pleasure too. I can read books on it and download daily news via the internet and cradle connection. I've not used it to it's fullest potential yet. This Sony Clie'PEG-TG50 is such a wonderful little device. I use it all the time. I can't say enough for it. Check it out.

I think the Tungsten E is the choice - it is quite small and cheap. Perfect display, good sound, os 5, lots of soft bundled - price less than 200 USD.

Steve, Steve, Steve,

If you want a small and simple but fully functional palm, I would say the Palm Vx is the way to go. You can find a good one on ebay for around $80-90, and it will do all the basics without all the bells and whistles.

I do palm retail and repare as a side job, and have recommended and bought many Palm Vx's for many of my friends and family and their friends and family.

Its slim and small, has a build in rechargable battery, and you can get a hard case (about $7) to keep the glass screen from breaking when you drop it. There are even official Palm keyboards you can buy for about $13.

I would recomend going with the "Buy Now" option on high ranking sellers, thats the best way to buy.

Good luck in your search.
