I have had a Palm V for a while now & it finally died. I replaced it with a Dell Axim & I'm pleased, but I do have a couple of questions. With Palm, there is Palm Desktop which makes access thru my computer easy, is there any software that will give me the same feel for my Axim? I'm also getting lockups is that common?

First, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "access through my computer" if you mean internet access, yes you can do that. Otherwise just let me know what you are refering to and I will let you know.
As for the frequent lock-ups, no, you should not be getting those. Personaly, I would have purchased a PocketPC that has been around a while and is tried and true like the iPAQ rather than choosing one that is brand new to the market. The iPAQ has more or less become the standard for PocketPC's. But back to the locking up. I would guess that it is in association with some software that has been installesd. What programs have you put on?

by access, i mean software on the desktop that would allow me to view EVERYTHING that I have on the PockePC. When I am setting at my desk and I want to get a phone number, add a task, or update my schedule for the week, I don't want to play w/ the Axim. I need all of that available, not just folders that are synced

Hi,

I have an Acer N10 Pocket PC and use a trial version of DotPocket (www.dotpocket.com) to do just that. It uses your ActiveSync connection to establish the connection. Is runs via Serial/USB and even through LAN.

Hope it helps.

That is why Microsoft includes a full copy of Outlook with every Pocket PC. This contains you contacts, todo list, calander, notes, etc. If you haven't installed it yet I suggest you do so. This can also be used as your primary email handler even if you use hotmail.
Also, if you want to see what apps are installed connect the PDA and then go to activsync, tools, add and remove programs. That will show you what "extra" apps are installed. If you want to browse the PDA like your desktop hardrive you can either go to activsync and click the explore button or go to windows explorer and mobile devices.
If you want to take a look at the documents and files that you have being synced to and from the PDA go to either the desktop shortcut for the "-pda name- My Documents" or go to the My Documents folder on your desktop and then to the "-pda name- My Documents" folder. Anything in this folder will be syncronized between the PDA and Desktop computer. Documents, files, etc.
It is not recomended you buy a third party app to sync your files since that will just take up space on your PDA since Outlook is already on it.
