Hi, I was hoping that someone could help me out. I want to buy a pda. (At least I think that is what I want) Here is what I am looking for:
1. Photo Viewer - would like to view, delete, zoom, download from card. I want to be able to carry all of my photos with me to share with others.
2. MP3 Player - I would like to download music from my cd's so that I could listen to them anytime, anywhere
3. Calendar - keep track of appointments, b-days & anniversaries
4. Tasks, memos, and things to do lists, etc.
5. Address book - store all my addresses
6. Long live battery - rechargable
7. Pocket - sized

Am I asking too much?

I am not that computer saavy, but I know what I want. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance,
thelittleflower

Nope thats exactly what PDAs were designed to do. Generally all pocket PCs are just that, pocket sized.

You have two choices on what type of PDA you want. There are Palm based devices and Pocket PC based devices. Since you are running a windows PC i woud suggest getting a PDA running windows mobile 2003 as this will look the most like your current PC and will take less getting used to.

PDAs do not have a lot of memory to store mp3s or photos but expansion cards are available to add extra memory.

I don't know what your budget is so i will suggest going on the Dell website and looking for a PDA on there since you have already dealt with them before. Something such as a Dell Axim x50 will do all the things you want and also play video files.

Hope this helps

Matt,
Thanks alot for the advice. Now I have just a few more questions.

Which would be better for viewing my pictures? The Brilliant VGA display and Accelerated Graphics with Integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth or the other one. It shows one screen a green color and the other is blue. What is the difference? Which would be better for looking at pictures?

Next, it says "For the Dell Axim X50v, access to the Internet requires purchase of separate internet access service and equipment."

Can you translate that for me? I am telling you that I am totally computer illiterate. Is that like having to pay for 2 monthly internet service bills? Internet service isn't that important to me. I just want the capability to store photos, listen to music, and store addresses and appointments, etc.

Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

Thanks,
thelittleflower

Firstly, don't worry you don't need two different Internet connections. This simply means that you need to use your home network to get access to the Internet.

The VGA screen is twice the resolution of most other PDA screens and so this would be better for looking at pictures and playing video.

The Axim x50v is fully customisable through the Dell website and you will have to look through all of the options to find the seup that best fits your needs.
