My company is looking into using a PDA with a PIC Programmer (a USB device that can program PIC microcontroller chips from a Windows environment) so that we do not need a laptop to go on location and make programming changes. However I know the PIC programmer is a USB client device, as are a fair amount of PDAs. I have found some information about USB host functionality on Windows CE in a PDA, but there is no certainty about which devices work, other than a list updated 2 years ago. I know the basics about the device consuming no more than half an amp, which this programmer doesn't, but I am unsure if I will be able to install the drivers on the PDA, even if we find a PDA that has a direct non-proprietary USB port and USB host functionality. Does anyone have any recommendations? Can I emulate Windows CE on a virtual machine and try to install drivers? Does anyone know of a more updated compatibility list for USB host devices in PDAs and Windows CE? Thank you for any and all help you can provide.
