We deliver a windows 2k desktop to users via the ica client. As part of the users' configuration (profile, mappings, etc) I have included a Palm installation so that each Palm user can sync to his/her own data.
It works like a charm. You need to give each user a unique mapping (i.e, %username% \palm) and install the palm desktop to that location. Then, you have to install the palm desktop first on the citrix server (in install mode of course) specifying a local drive (i.e, C:\). Then, create a \palm directroy for the administrator using %username% (similiar mapping as your users) and install the software AGAIN, but this time to the mapped drive.
To summarize what you've done, you've installed the palm desktop on the citrix server with the appropriate dll's and reg settings, and then you installed it in a similiar location as where the users will have their unique data.
Now, just make suure you're com ports map up (lots of docs out on how to do that), and your golden.
A few pitfalls. First, you can do the install just once on the server and you'll get everyting to work including the syncing. However, the syncing will have problems. Data will not always move from handheld to desktoop and vice versa like you would expect. Hence, the need to to the install twice. Also, you must install to the server local disk first and then to the mapped drive second (of course this assumes that your holding the users' palm data on another server, which I would recommend). I've tried it in reverse and it hasn't worked.
Feel free to email me direct if the above aint clear.
