PCMCIA Adapter for Flash Cards Q...

This is the adapter I was looking at, and my main question is that if the adapter and flash cards meet the requirements for my Portable (A HP 200LX), can the cards that fit in this adapter be used for data storage and not just images since many are made for digital camera etc.?
Are there any advantages to these type of cards than to standard pcmcia flash cards?
I am also going to look for SRAM cards as well to use with my unit since i hear they are very fast, so i will use them with an EMS driver to give my unit more memory and speed. I have heard that early versions of winodws like 1 and 2 work one these machines. :)
