Palm VIIx sync prob w/ Intellisync

I have a user whose Palm VIIx will not sync unless you open Intellisync and click OK - you don't have to make any changes in Intellisync at all. If you click cancel, you can't sync. If I close HotSync and reopen it, I have to start all over again by reopening Intellisync and clicking OK.
We've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. I have other palm VIIx users who do not have this problems.
