I have a Palm m500 that has been sitting in a box unused for about 5 years. Now I need it. I plugged it into it's docking station and charged it overnite. It won't turn on, and only shows 'Palm Powered' logo on the screen. Is there any hope in reviving it? Any suggestions?

Try a hard reset hold the power button down while pressing the reset button on the back with a needle or paper clip. And it should say go ahead and erase all data answer yes.. All the palm default software will not be wiped out.. Just user files which you shouldn't have any since you haven't used it..

Also does it have a separate wall charger, some devices don't charge on the sync cradle.. You could always buy a new battery they are reasonably priced on ebay..

Thanks for the reply.... I tried the hard reset...and erased all data. The default software doesn't seem to exist. My wall charger is part of the sync cradle. The green light is on showing a charging situation. I didn't want to buy a new batery if I don't have to. What has me stumped is the logo on the screen and the ability to use the reset command. If the batery was dead the screen would be blank don't you think?
I can hold my own in any computer environment, I just don't have any experience with PDA's. Is there an OS? Is the software ROM, like a BIOS, or volitile, like RAM. In that case I could see my battery going dead could lose that.
Not much help on the Palm troubleshooting and download site either. Any other suggs.?

Well most of the palm devices keep everything in flash rom, encase of battery failure. I'm no palm technical whiz either though I've used palm devices for awhile, I have a Palm 3e and a Zire 31..

The M500 is suppose to have 8mb of ram and 4mb of flash rom. http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na...

The Palm M500
comes with Palm OS 4.0 and all the built in applications are suppose to be in the ROM.
