The easiest way is to download IRComm2k from http://www.ircomm2k.de/english/
This program sets up your IR Port so that it looks like a standard serial port. You can then sync using the IR Port by setting your Hotsync Manager to use a serial sync via the COM Port that this emulates.
For example, IRComm2k pretends that your IR Port is COM4. Set Hotsync to serial using COM4.

I could not synchronise using IR but after the installation of IRCommm2K it was working in 2 minutes.
