My Palm does not respond to tapping. I try to reset it soft and hard and after the hard reset (where I deleted my data) it does not start up properly. It hangs in the part where you have to point the wand at the target. It goes from place to place forever.
Does this mean that the PalmV is dead? Is there anyway to reload the actual PalmOS onto the PDA device.Help and thanks
Allen

You can try this advice which I paid $20 for at Handspring's tech support:
Remove batteries, (if yours has removal batteries). Leave out for about 45 minutes, then do soft reset 3 or 4 times, put batteries back in and do soft reset 3 or 4 more times again. And then cross your fingers and hope for the best:)
(If this doesn't work at least you aren't out $20 for it like I was) :)
You can also try www.pdastreet.com and they have forums also.
Good luck.
My Visor was dead, so now I hava a Palm and I hope it lasts longer than the Visor did.

Hi,
It could be several problems. The problem is the digitizer is not reconizing your stylus. The palm can only accept one command at a time. Imagine putting your finger on a key of your keyboard, then try to surf the net. You wont get anywhere because the computer is reading the input from the key that you are pressing. It is the same with the Palms. I have been doing minor repairs on Palms for some time and I have found this to be a common problem. Palm used to use Glue to hold the faceplate together. Often, too much glue is applied and causes a button to get stuck. Plam has since gone to screws to hold the units together. My first suggestion is to find out if a button is stuck. Try pressing each button, one at a time, to see if it frees up your screen. If you find a button that is stuck, either push it hard a few times to try to losen the glue, or you can use a hair dryer on high for about 15 seconds(3-4 inches away). Careful, the palm will get HOT.
If you dont find any buttons stuck, it might be getting pressure from around the frame. Use your finger nails and make sure you can slide your nail around the inside perimeter where the frame touches the screen. If you find a tight spot, try to pry with your finger nail. dont use a knife or screwdriver, it could crack the screen.
You an also try the hairdryer for about 15 seconds, not too long, or you will losen all of the glue and your cover will come off.
If this doenst work, you might have a bad digitizer.
I would be happy to buy this unit from you for $20 and sell you one that I have repaired for $50 (this is for the palm only, no other accessories.
Jim
