You cann't. To open Palm, you need a special heating element to melt the glue inside without damaging other components.

I opened mine up with no problems. See www.sfu.ca/~cecill/palm.

Since I made the page, I've glued it back together with no problems too.

hey thanks for posting www.sfu.ca/~cecill/palm it was very informative. When you had it open did it look possible to change the screen eg. if it had been scratched?

You can open a Palm Vx with a hairdryer. Put it screen side down and hold a hairdryer to it for about 1.5 or 2 minutes. The case should lift off after the glue gets heated. Its only held together by super glue. And you can take the screen off but its 50 bucks for a new screen. I wouldn't replace the screen for a scratch but u can if u want. Just remove the battery cable to the motherboard and the two ribbon cables from the complete screen(not only the glass) fromt he motherboard. Then run your thumbnail between the metal backing and the glasstop and this should break the seal from the super glue. Be careful with the ribbon cables. They are brittle and snap or "tear" easily. www.gethightech.com offers service and parts. They will also give u directions on replacing parts in it. If the battery is "dead" dead then you can just take it off the metal sleeve for the complete screen and unhook it from the motherboard. Then just replace it with a new one.
