Two different platforms, You and only you need to decide I think it is more of a preference than a necessity. Platform 1 is the PALM #2 is a PC based. I prefer the PALM based platform. I take this thing wherever I go. I don't need a computer on the road as I use a laptop but in cases I don't lug around a laptop all day the Palm based PDA is great. Ask yourself these questions, Do I want to listen to MP3's, look at video's Short ones, Do I need wireless capabilities. Those are al questions you need to ask yourself.... Processor - A PC based PDA is more critical than a Palm, so the rule goes buy what you can afford, if you want, after learning the in's and out's of a PDA sell it and upgrade. Memory this is one thing I dread as I only have 16 meg in my SONY Clie. wish I had more. so I would vote for more than 16 meg for sure. Face it, these are like computers a month after you buy it, it is discontinued. The technology is advancing faster every day. The main thing is what do YOU want it to help you with. If you are a little apprehensive about shelling out big bucks for something you might not see as a thing to have then do what I did. Three years ago ai bought a refurbished palm IIIxe and when I got tired of that I went to a SONY CLIE nr70U Still have it and love it. The daughter adopted the IIIxe. Cameras in the unit. I would pass on that as they just increase the price and if you have a memory slot for external memory you can put pictures from the computer right on the memory stick. Hope this helps TOOLS

Furthermore. You can't just compare Mhz's of PDAs running different OS's. Each OS has it's own way of doing things.
It is like with PC's: You can type a document in Wordperfect 4.2 under DOS 4.11 running at 16 Mhz faster than you can type in Word 2003 running Windows XP on 1600 Mhz.
