Again, there are currently no available versions of Linux for the Jornada 540 series OR the Toshiba's. There is work being done on the Jornada 56x series but the earlier models had an SH3 processor and requires to many rewrites for code to make the limited interest worth while. I would recomend a used iPAQ 36xx or 37xx (if you have the extra $50 get the 37xx as it has a larger RAM and ROM, well worth the money). There are MANY options for Linux on the iPAQ including a full blown version of Debian with KDE desktop and all you favorite Linux apps.
