Issues synching Lotus Notes Mail

Does anyone have experience sync-ing Lotus Notes mail (4 or 5) on an iPAQ or Palm V?
Specifically I an sync mail using EasySync and HotSync EXCEPT that message I delete from the Palm do not sync back the deletion to Notes Mail. All other changes sync fine.
Is this by design? Is there something I'm not doing correctly? Anyone else encounter this?
