Hi, I have a friend who is trying to use infrared to Hotsync his Palm with XP. The problem is that whenever he puts his palm near the ir port, XP detects it and runs the irftp program. The problem with this is that, as far as I can tell, it hogs the port so that the HotSync program can't access the port (Palm says port is in use by another application). You have to hotsync 2 or 3 times in succesion before the hotsync program will catch XP "unaware" and be able to sync as it should. This indicates that all the connections and settings are well but this automatic XP program that pops up is interfering. How do I disable it? I've tried deleting it, renaming it, etc but it always comes back to life (obviously a protected XP file). Is anyone out there able to hotsync their palm through an infrared port on their xp machine using Hotsync? Remember, this is an infrared problem, not USB or serial, as that works fine. Thanks!

I have W2K, but this should work. Go to the Control Panel/Wireless Link/Image Transfer and uncheck Use Wireless Link to transfer images from a digital camera to your computer.
