IPAQ will not sync via Infrared

I have an Ipaq 3835 and cannot get it to syncronize on my DELL Lattitude CPI. The IR port looks fine, is set up in the BIOS and the Wireless link actually comes up for a few seconds when I try to "Connect via IR" on the IPaq, but it then disappears and nothing happens.

ok rick check this out will the ipaq sync via serial or usb...
thank is the first thinkg to know
try also instead of sync try and see if just put the ipaq in front of the ir port will it recognize it. If it is recognizing it then there is no prob if it is and it goes away after a few seconds it could be eighter port not working correctly.

You can transfer files and you can print via IR but you can't sync via IR.
Only USB, ethernet, and serial connections will sync.

Hi. I have the 3975 and just went through the Irda setup in my win2000. iPAQ can truly sync through ir. you need to have sync programs running in both laptop and in pocket pc. they need to get recognized each other over the wireless link. then all should be easy. brg Esa
