I recently upgraded my iPAQ 3650 to PocketPC 2002. After the upgrade, everything seems to be functioning fine except there doesn't seem to be a Window Media Player on the unit anymore. I've even tried resetting the iPAQ back to factory settings and performing the upgrade, but to no avail. Looking for ideas as to what happened to the media player after the upgrade and ideas as to why the upgrade is not putting the media player on the iPAQ. I've tried the knowledge bases on both the Compaq and Microsoft websites but I couldn't find anything pertinent. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Pocket PC 2002 takes up a lot more space than the prior version. As such, it leaves out some apps when you upgrade an older device such as the iPAQ 3650 that has less room in the flash memory. You can still install the extra items, but they won't fit in the Flash ROM, so you have to put them in the main memory area or on a memory card, where all your data and third party programs go.
If I'm not mistaken, the Media Player is one of the items that are left out and require you to install them in main memory.

Yup, exactly right Walter.
I was so surprised that after MS made such a big deal about the new WMP for PPC2002 that they wouldn't include it in the update or explicity tell users that it's not in there...oh, but wait it's MS...right.
Anyway, I found it online and it's cool!

I have pocket pc 2002 on my ipaq 3630. I loaded media player 8 and get an error message that it cannot find one of the components - when I try to run it - any ideas guys ?

I have also lost the ability to Launch Media Player.... has anyone got a solution. I have Warm Reset & Cold Reset the deive, reinstalled the wmnall.exe (Windows Media Player 8). I get the Option on the Start MENU but when I select it, it give the error "Cannot find 'player' (or one of it's components). make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available."
Please Help.
Tony.
