I use a Compaq iPAQ 3970 which I have set up to synchronise with my notebook. For some reasons i didn't charge the iPAQ for a long time causing the battery to run flat. I have since recharged it but have not been able to get the Active Sync working since then. I have tried reinstalling Active Sync 3.5 but anytime i plug in the ipAQ into its cradle which is connected to my notebook via the USB i get no response. The connection is not recognised or seen by my iPAQ. This is causing me a lot of pain as i can't reinstall all the software i use on the ipaq if this connection is not up. Please help.

Have you tried pressing the reset button on your iPaq to do a warm boot? (press the button in the hole next to the cradle port on the bottom using your stylus).
