Comment: I just recently purchased an Ipaq 3650. I installed Active Sync 3.1 and plugged the USB cradle into my PC. I have had the worst time getting this thing to sync with my PC. Sometimes it will and sometimes it will not. Any suggestions or known problems with this...Please help. I am very frustrated.

Reply: (edit)This appears to be a very common problem, almost endemic. Microsoft released a fix to ActiveSync 3.1 as '3.1. Build 9587'. I did the upgrade, no improvement. There have also been suggestions that a USB hub will cause problems. I removed the hub and connected directly, no improvement. You might try those two suggestions, YMMV. If you find something that works, please email me as ipaq at msg dot net

Reply: (edit)I had this problem (I have a 3635). It would sync the first time after booting (or logging in) but not after that (It would say "connecting..." or something like that forever). Anyway, I upgraded to active sync 3.5 and this solved the problem. Sync's everytime now. This is on win2k.

Reply: (edit)Hello All, I found a page that suggests right clicking on the Active Sync icon in the system tray and choosing Connection Settings. Apparently if you uncheck the USB support box, click OK and then go back in and check it again it might well fix the issue. It also seems that taking the ipaq out of the cradle, unplugging the USB cable, plugging it back in and then placing the Ipaq back in the cradle can sometimes get it to synchronise. On the positive side, Active Sync 3.5 seems to work really well with the serial port under windows 98. Kat

Reply: (edit)I have a problem with the active sync for mail. If I delete the messages from my IPAQ they will be deleted from my Outlook Inbox on my PC only if they are marked as unread. If they are marked as read, they will be transfered to my IPAQ again. Does anyone know if there is a setting that can fix this, or if there is a patch. Please help. Thanks, Abe

Reply: (edit)I've been noticing a problem syncing up between my PC and Palm as well. Everything other than my inbox will transfer without trouble. I cannot transfer mail to my Palm even if I try to manually move the data. It's driving me crazy! I'm going to try downgrading to 3.1 from 3.5 to fix the problem but thought I'd post and ask if anybody had experienced the same thing and had a fix that I could possibly use. Thanks, Ben

Reply: (edit)The problem I was having was that the messages on my IPAQ were not getting deleted from Outlook. The only solution I found for getting all of the emails to sync was to select my entire Inbox and Mark them all as unread which makes all of your messages unread, but it does delete everything from Outlook that you deleted off of your IPAQ. I may try to downgrade also to see the results. Thanks, Abe
