Hello,
Anyone have any problems an HP Jornada when placed in the cradle, reboots the machine. The Computer is a Dell 1.2 Ghz machine. Very new in fact. Any ideas or help would be deeply appreciated.

Are you using a USB connection or a Serial connection?.
What happens when you boot the computer with the device already in the cradle?.
Try swapping the port over, either change the usb port or use the second serial port.
Let me know

I have a Jornada 540... And a Dell. Slightly older, an 800Mhz. When I used the standard serial sync cable, I had no problems. I purchased a Belkin USB - Serial adapter to free up my serial port, and I encountered that problem - it would reboot during any sync. I recently purchased a cheap USB charge/sync adapter for the Jornada at Rat Shack (not having much hope for it), and I have no problems. I imagine this isn't any help, but thought I'd relate my similiar troubles... I asked Belkin about the issues, and they blamed HP - cited incompatibility. Who knows...
Ben

I have a Jornada 548 and I have the same problem. It drives me crazy. It doesn't always do it, but sometimes when I place the Jornada in the USB cradle, my PC reboots immediately. I have a Compaq Deskpro EN running windows 2000. I never had the problem when I was running NT, but then again NT dosen't support USB and I was using the 9 pin serial cable. When I check my event viewer for Win2000, it shows nothing, not even an abnormal shutdown. I have contemplated whether or not it has something to do with the cradle pins...maybe they over time they become bent or worn and somehow they short out as you insert the Jornada. This would support Ben's scenario of buying a new sync cord and no longer having the problem. What do you all think?
