hotsync problem confirmation query

I have a hotsync problem between my pc and my Sony Clié SJ-30. Performing a hotsync operation it immediately stops and gives the following log message:
"Hotsync operation was terminated. Some of your data was not backed up. An application on the PC failed to respond to a confirmation query. This application may need to be restarted"
However I don't know which application, so I can not act. I tried a soft reset, a reboot, changing the hotsync custom settings one by one, deleting recently installed apps, switching all Intellisync items to "no action" etc. etc. etc. Without any result. I see the same problem on internet forums, but not the answers. Sony has no clue either.
