Hello,
Someone recently gave me a Palm IIIe, with no manuals, CDs, or cables. I'm trying to figure out what I need to hook it up to my computer (Mac Performa 6200CD-- is that possible?), both in terms of cables and software. As far as cables, everything now seems to be USB, so I guess I'll have to shop used? And as far as software, I see lots of stuff available for download like games, utilities, etc., but I'm assuming there is a basic program (that originally came with it?) that will allow me to backup info/install files?
Please help!
Thanks,
James

I discovered that you can get the manual at Palm.com. I was in the same shape and found it there. It's a PDF file you can download. Best of luck.

I used to have a 3e until I dropped it and broke the screen!
I haven't checked recently, but in order to synchronise, use the palm desktop app that can be downloaded from the palm website.
As for connectivity, the 3e came with a cradle if I remember, that connected to the serial port. I couldn't tell you where to find one though.
Finally, I hope you enjoy the palm. If I recall the games weren't too impressive (it is very slow compared to the latest palms) and you are limited by the small amount of memory. It is however brilliant at what it was intended for (contacts, diary, etc.).
If you want more functionality then shop around for an old pocket pc (I have an old HP jornada 525 myself) these are not only that bit more powerful, but you can play games in full colour as well. Mine has a Compact Flash slot so it also doubles as an MP3 player.
