Overall which is faster, GPRS or Bluetooth? I just hooked my laptop up to my cell via datacable to use the cell as the internet connection when mobile.
I gotta say it is pretty damn slow. I have tried using the phone as a modem..hehe 9600bps-brutal. I have tried using the GPRS throught the data cable and Ifrd. All things slow, some slower.
I do have the option to get a BT adapter and use BT and was curious if I should waste my time and money for it.
Thanks is advance,
slade

From what I understand, all your attempts thus far are with either ir(115k max) or cable (probably serial so also 115k max) in which case, yes, bluetooth is much faster. However, you need to know that with bluetooth being as fast as it is, your bottleneck then becomes the GPRS connection. You will have to see how fast your cell phone company says they will allow you to go (usualy the equivalant of a 28.8bps modem but some are actualy up to 50bps or more).
But technicaly, bluetooth is much faster. If you are looking to get BT for the laptop I would suggest a PCMCIA or CF card as they are faster interfaces than USB. If you where using a USB Cable from your phone then it wouldn't be any faster than a USB BT adaptor because USB becomes your bottleneck.
