The battery for my Palm m505 is not recharging. I have three different charges in different sockets (one at work, one at home, one for travel) and while the palm's battery-charging light is on, the battery is not charging. When I unplug the palm, it turns itself off after a few seconds, before which I can see that it did not recharge (via the battery moniter in the PalmOS).I'm pretty sure that the battery is busted, and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could send my palm to get it repaired. (The warrenty on it from Palm is over) Much thanks for anyone who can tell me where I can get it repaired, and extra points for whoever can tell me about any place that can repair it that is located in the Los Angeles area!
Thanks in advance!

My m505 also failed in this way (verbatim). Actually this was a "replacement unit" Palm sent me after my original one died prematurely (screen would go haywire, blinking and flashing randomly). Of course the replacement unit I got back had a MUCH shorter battery life between charges to start with, than the original (< 1 year old) unit I shipped them. I just love their "replacement only" repair policy for certain Palm models! :-(The m505 was a replacement for a Palm V that also died out-right after only a couple years or so of use!
I think Palm has lost me as a future customer! I really like the size and designs of their units and their ease of use, but I've been played for a fool one too many times! If you pay upwards of $500 for something, it should last for more than just a couple of years and you certainly should have the option of having your own unit repaired and returned to you!
This lack of quality and respect for the customer may explain why users in California had to file a class action lawsuit to get some reasonable customer service from Palm over electrostatic discharge and their hot sync cradles (SUPERIOR COURT OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO, CLASS ACTION Case No.: 323587). Can you believe Palm actually haggled over the replacement of a $40 cradle?!?!?! In fact it later expanded into damages to PC motherboards caused by a poor cradle design that did not properly handle ESD. Suits 'em right!
This is probably far too late for you, but others that may find this can check out this site for replacement batteries:
http://www.palmbattery.com/?CMP=KNC-goog25
...and I'm sure there are others out there. If your warranty has expired, what do you have to lose? Better than paying (rewarding) Palm or an "authorized reseller" for an inferior product and poor customer service!
I'll probably try to get my existing unit operating again by replacing the battery, but this is likely my last Palm PDA.
I hope you all have better luck than I've had!
