Dell X5 400, Linksys Wi-Fi card WCF12, D-Link DI614+ Wi-Fi Router.
Problem: my ppc can detect router and get the signal, 100% both. in Site survey, there are only 1 network name DI-614+.
in configuration, I choose infrastructure, SSID is ANY, Preamble type:long preamble. AdHoc Channel 6.
After setup, I can not get to inerent by MSN messenger or IE: The page you are looking for cannot be found. or Logon to MSN messenger service failed bec the service is not responding. Please try again later. My ppc detect signal is 100%.
I think something in my ppc configuration. like setting --> connections.but how?

This is a common issue. After you have set up your wifi card go to settings and memory then to the last tab (running programs) and end task on IE if it's open. Then go back to settings and to the connections tab and then click on the connections icon. "Work Settings" should be in at least the first two drop down boxes, and preferably in the third, Go to the "Modify" button on the first one and then to the "Proxy Settings" tab. Select the checkbox that says "This network connects to the Internet". Then hit okay at the top right until you are back at the connections screen with the three drop down boxes. If you go to the second drop down box (which again should also have "Work Settings" selected) do the same thing, but this time the check box should already be checked. That's good, that's what we want so leave it and hit okay again. You can just okay out of all of it and go back to IE and you should be able to enter a web address like you do on your desktop and go providing the wifi is connected and on.
Also, let me make a few recomendations if you plan to do a lot of web browsing on your PDA. First take a good look at Thunderhawk by bitstream. It is a service and browser that you pay for but it is completely full screen with no limitations, unlike pocket ie, and is in landscape mode so you get more of the web site on you screen at a time. Trust me it's worth the money if you do any real browsing. At least download the demo and give it a try. Also if you like to open more than one window at a time (I'm always using the "Open in a new Window" option in IE on my desktop so I don't have to keep going back and forth on pages like search results) then give the NetFront Browser a look. It has MANY more features than Pocket IE. Also, JimmySoftware has a Pocket IE software that adds several enhancements to Pocket IE for Pocket PC 2002. You can go full screen or full screen with the address bar or open a new window (Although you can't click on a link and open it into a new window, just open an empty browser window).
