Hi, Just upgraded from Win 98se to xp and cannot get my pc to find my compaq ipaq, i assume there may be a setting within xp that is stopping the connection like the firewall etc. I am posting this in the PDA forum as well. The software installs ok, it is during the connection process that the pc will not locate my ipaq, i connect using a serial cable on port 1 or 2. Any help appreciated Regards Alan..

Hi, I've had the same problem on all OS's so far. The only way I know is to drop the default connection speed on the Ipaq to the lowest (19K) and then once a connection is established, work up to 115K. Good luck

If you are not using any other serial devices, then try disabling the other serial COM port in the BIOS. It should then pick up the correct port in XP.
You can also buy a USB Power/Sync cable on Ebay for $10 and save the serial cable as a spare.

Thanks for the responses guys, the fix turned out to be a registry edit. Deep into the reg there is a windows ce folder, when highlighted it shows you various options, one was for the com port, needless to say the port was not listed, as soon as i typed it in the ipaq communicated.
