I have no idea where to post this, but decided to try here since Hardware uses COM ports. Ok, I say it right off: I know NOTHING about COM ports. I do know that it stands for 'Communication port', but I have no idea how to tell which device is using a particular COM port, or how to change/switch the ports. A friend is using a laptop and trying to connect an m100 Palm to her ME(japanese) system, but is unable to 'hotsynch'. I think that the problem is related to the port she's using. The m100 is supposed to connect to the laptop using a serial port, but her Toshiba Satellite serial port doesn't match the adaptor plug. So.. she's using a PS/2 plug. By that, I mean that she's taken the original serial plug for the Palm, and attached it to a PS/2 adaptor plug. That's where (in my admittedly non-expert guess) the problem lies. I think that the computer isn't finding the Palm as it's attached to the PS/2 port, and that it's only looking at the serial port. I've tried looking for ways to change the COM ports, but I can't find out how to do so. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? Many thanks, Nautilus
