hey...is there a quick way to clear a palm V's memory...that is..get it back to the way it was when first purchased? i tried the reset button on the back, but it didn't clear anything.

Read the manual, they didn't write it because they had nothing better to do! Hold the Power button while resetting...

or you can just let the batteries run out.
it happened to me on my IIIc by accident...
