Tech Support Enthusiasts:

I request support in fully uninstalling LLium Software eWallet (Ver. 2.0.4T Build 1016) from my computer.

The program performed flawlessly when I first installed it in my Dell P3 600mhz running Win 98, in the Palm Desktop Software ver. 4.0.1 and in the Palm m505 running Palm OS 4. However, since I decided to uninstall the program, I can't perform the HotSync operation. I proceeded to reinstall the program in my computer but not in the Palm Desktop Software, including the programs installed under the Palm directory tree and in the Palm m505. Under this condition, I am able to make the HotSync operation without any problem. Am I condemned to maintain this program in my computer?

Palm Desktop reports the following error:

“HotSync operation started 06/14/01 20:06:19
HotSync Error:
An application failed to respond to a
HotSync notification. Please check the Palm Desktop for details. (8009)
HotSync operation complete 06/14/01 20:06:20"

Palm m505 reports the following error:

“An application failed to respond to a HotSync notification. Please check the
Palm Desktop for details.”

Again, when I reinstall the software in the computer, both machines perform flawlessly. However, this software is not what I need at this time. Please correspond!!!

Thank you for your time and effort.

L,

What you may want to try is to reinstall all the Palm software, making sure that the other software is uninstalled. This should give you a clean start with the program. Check in the Palm directory (C:\Program Files\Palm\ or whatever it is), and there should be a folder with backups of all the programs you have installed. See if you can find the program and delete it (check in the other folders as well). Try opening up the Palm Desktop application, then choose Hotsync, Custom on the toolbar. See if that application is there, and if so, remove it. That is all I can think of now, I hope this helps...

Thanks,
Tech

You can try editing the Registry by hand if you want (and can stand the pressure) but these instructions simply delete the corrupted Registry entries, and rebuild that section of the Registry. Here are the step-by-steps:

Close HotSync on the taskbar.
Close any and all windows, applications or processes running.
Open Regedit (go to Start menu, "Run" and type 'regedit'
Export the Registry (all, not just a branch) in case you need it as a backup
Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Open "Software".
Find the US Robotics entry and expand it.
Select Pilot Desktop folder and delete it.
Quit Regedit.
Open Run on Start menu, enter "C:\Palm\hotsync -r" using your correct path to the HotSync.exe. Be sure to add the " -r" after it. This is what will rebuild the Registry entries. After a few moments, you should see the HotSync icon appear in the System Tray on the Taskbar.
Before doing anything else, restart your machine.
Everything should be working now. The basic HotSync should work. Then you can replace, reinstall, and re-setup your other applications.
