Comment: Windows 98 2nd ed, 4.10.2222.A Sony Clie N710C Palm OS 3.5.2 I have always had problems getting hotsync to work, but now I absolutely can't get around whatever the block is. I am connected via USB on a hub, and I'm syncing thru com1. Neither com3 or com5 are available. Palm tells me the serial port is in use by another application, no matter what I do, how many programs I shut down, etc. In the past, I could somehow get it to work by switching between ports and protocols (USB vs. serial) with a few reboots thrown in until it would finally work. I never found any rhyme or reason to that method, but it would somehow eventually work. But no longer. Now, the best I can get is a "busy" flicker of the PC cursor just as the Palm says it's unable to initiate. I would just re-install the Palm desktop software, but I've lost the CD. Plus, it never really worked well in the first place, even when newly installed. Help! Michael

Reply: (edit)This might not be the case but I'd say get rid of the hub. A LOT of PDA's in general do not like being connected to a hub and will not function properly or at all as a result of it. Connect the USB directly to the computer and if that works, you know that the hub is the problem. Good luck!
