I don't know how to set up an internet connection to my Pocket Pc. My computer has a COX cable connection and I want to know if I can use the same connection to my PPC. Is it possible to set up a connection through the cradle? HELP!!!

LOL... dude when you connect the usb cable to your ppc and have your internet on you can use the internet on your ppc

Not true. My PPc is on the cradle, and I'm on the internet. I try to go to google on my PPC, but it says that it can't set up a server. Is it because I'm constantly online wit Cox cable internet

You could probably get a 4port cable router then a pci network card in your PC to the router and a Compact flash or Pcmcia network card in the PPC to the router
This would probably only be good for a low power web server or maybe a little browsing in bed because you cant realy download and big files onto a PDA

Depending on how many puters u have connceting to the net or how often u will use your ppc on the net- a wireless access point/router & a wireless pcmcia card. This way u can use your pda almost anywhere in your home.

WOW! Those are some long answers for a simple question! Yes you can use the internet on your PDA while it's on the cradle and attached to your PC. No, you don't need to buy anything. No, you don't need to worry about how much you use your internet on your PC. There are some network settings to make this happen but is really not a big deal. Now if you want to set it up so that you can use you PDA to get mail and internet while roaming around the house without the need for your PC, that's also do-able but will require the purchase of a few things.
The proir settings to which I refer should be discussed in the included Activesync or manufacturer documentation. If not let me know and I will help you. As for the wireless connection to your cable modem throughout the house, no problem. You will need a "Wireless Gateway/Router" I prefer Linksys but any brand will do. They usualy run around $125 or so and what that does is allow you to connect the cable modem directly to this device instead of the back of your PC. That does several things, one protects your PC from (most) hackers by isolating the internet connection (it does this without changing how you connect to the internet on your PC so not to worry). It also allows you to connect more than one computer to the internet using the one cable connection(despite what Cox may say). And finaly, allows you to also connect more than one computer to the internet/network using wireless. The other thing you need is a wireless card for your PDA. Usualy PPC units have an Compact Flash slot that you can use. And there are several CF type wireless cards out there including Linksys and they run anywhere from $50 and up. Now you just follow the directions for both devices (not very difficult) and you can now sync your PDA to your PC from anywhere in the house without your cradle (and ten times faster I might add) and get your email and internet while in front of the TV of in the bathroom or whatever, no wires needed!
Anyway, if you need any help with this let me know. And don't let a few arogant people on this group give you the wrong idea, some of us are truely here to help. ;)

If you want to surf while just in the cradle, in ActiveSync on the computer go to tools/options/rules tab and at the bottom in "Pass Through" select Internet! That's it!

Nope... I do NOT have any "Pass Through" option there. I have exactly the same problem and roughly spend 50 hours on trying all kind of settings!
My PDA is a Cassiopeia EM-500 (WCE3.0). And the reason for wanting to internet from the cradle is that I then know that I can use sockets for my own programming, to make a program that communicates to my PC. I'm not interested in wireless solutions or in buying extra equipment.
If you realy think this is easy, well IT IS NOT! contact me by e-mail if you want (nona_suomy @ hotmail . com)
