hey there,

this is my first post to the PDA section although i've answered many posts in other sections. for christmas, i was given about $150 in gift cards and everyone says i need to use them to get a PDA/handheld. any advice on the most cost-effective yet useful?

i'm willing to put in extra money if need be.. but i'd rather just spend the cards (or less and use the remaining on ps2 games ;))

(basically i'm asking.. if you could pick out a pda/handheld.. what would you buy and why? or maybe you have experience with "i'll never get that one again" or "this is the best" handheld...)

thanks a bunch for any comments!

This forum is a little dead, and honestly I'm new at handhelds. But here's what I just bought for my wife:

Zayo A600, by Razor

These are $200 at MobilePlanet. The specs are Pocket PC, 400mhz processor, 64MB RAM, 32MB flash BIOS, and comes with the Microsoft PPC software (Pocket Word, etc.). It's an entire kit with handheld, cradle, case, cables, and PC software.

They don't have all of the features of this year's $600 models, but the memory and processor speed are still top.

Just an idea that I hope you find useful.
Happy Shopping,
Bob

I couldn't say. I bought it for her to have a small "toy" at Christmas. You see, we didn't really exchange gifts this year, but bought a home theater/DVD instead.

So far she's turned it on, took it school, and showed it to her teacher friends. Her friends were quite impressed by the way - not too many techies around here.

Here's a link:

You can also do a Google search to come up with some product reviews.
