Synchronization cannot start because this desktop computer cannot access necessary information. Restart this desktop computer and synchronize again. If the problem persists and this desktop computer is running MS Outlook 2000, open Outlook 2000, click Help, and then click Detect and Repair.
Next window says:
Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and synchronize again. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator.

It sounds like your firewall may be blocking Activesync from accessing the PDA. See if it is blocked in your firewall settings...
Did you open outlook 2000 and do what it said?

Yo ... you have to create a profile at the Microsoft Office ... once the profile is created ... Active sync manages to save all of your tasks, contact information and so on in your profile... peace dude

I found an article on this problem in the MS Knowledge Base, which did not really explain what it was.
What I did I deleted the Partnership, uninstalled ActiveSync, deleted all pst files (Contacts, Calendar, etc.), repaired Outlook from the installation CD, rebooted, re-installed ActiveSyn, restored the pst filed in Outlook from a backup copy, and synched. It worked and still works, but I still have no clue why exactly it happened. Which is usual for an OS like Windows.
