win-os/2 and aol

I`m writing this on aol 4.0 16-bit with built-in win-os/2 (it works in a window or fullscreen), but the connection is`nt tcp-ip, rather the usual non-standard aol-type connection. os/2 itself obviously sees my modem, as it tries to initialise it if I open its dialer, but the web explorer (and presumably other os/2 net tools as well) won`t recognise the aol connection at all. Help appreciated.
