Comment: I am trying to access high speed internet through my LAN at work (without calling the pro's out- who charge a mint). I have hooked up the laptop, copied the ip settings from cmd promt (ipconfig /all). And the comp is on the LAN. I can also browse any webpage which is directly connected to our local server. I.e i work in a division of a university, and can browse any webpage on the uni. However, i cannot connect to any outside webpage. It says "webpage connected" and tries to load, but nothing happens. Any help would be fantastic!

Reply: (edit)Sounds like someone's got you blocked from getting outside your intranet. I'd talk to your university's IT department about it-sounds like you're being blocked from somewhere from going outside of the LAN.
