Also is it free because i would be fun to mess with it. I wake up at 6 o'clock every morning, no matter what time it is. I wake up at 6 o'clock every morning, no matter what time it is.

Reply: (edit)Its is an OS originally co-developed by IBM and MS. MS dropped developement, after 1.2 I think which was 16 bit, when it saw win3 was going to be big and had hired David Cutler to develope a vms workalike we now know a NT. OS/2 was originally a single user OS but there are server versions. IBM still sells/supports/updates (put is trying to ween customers off it and convert to linux solutions) OS/2 on a cost basis. They have licenced it to Serenity Systems who make a client veriant called eComstation. Version 2.x on are 32 bit. A google search should reveal more. Its not suceptable to all thecrap floating around the intenet at the mo. Suppports dos and quite a few win 3.x programs quite well. OS/2s desktop-Workplace Shell is object orientated, and has been since its inseption in the early-mid 1990s something Longhorne "may" have in 2006. Is quite stable but like any OS has its quirks. Its more popular in Europe than it ever was in the US. A lot of banks use/used it in ATM as well. No its not free, it is a comercial OS. ebay should have copies of if cheap though. In saying that I got my copy from an Assie mag cd back in Sep 2000 lol.

Reply: (edit)If you want to reduce the time spending patch/updating/avoiding expliots then yes it is. OS/2 is very picky about hardware but there are some good info sites out ther in www land. And you can't just buy software for it. I see you are still using win98, I am too, it is less work with the right software to keep running than the current ms offerings as well :). Bit of an oxymoron really. Oh and MS have extended support for win 98 till 2006. Seems a lot of folk are quite happy with it.
