OS/2 Warp 4.0 runs DOS programs very well through FixPack 11. Upgrade any machine to FixPack 13 or beyond and DOS performance takes a serious dive. DOS session properties make no difference (yes, I've tried themall) - nor does memory or CPU.
Anyone know why this is and what can be done about it? I've tried FixPack 13 through 16, and eComStation v1.x is just as slow.
The machines I'm concerned with are K6 200-MHz through Athlon 1.8-GHz. All have at least 32-Megs RAM and most have 128-Meg. All are running NetBEUI over TCP/IP.

I have MCP 2 and eCS 1.0 running, and DOS is as fast as on Warp4...
I think you have changed a setting about DOS, and that this causes your DOS prompt to act slow.Check out all the options, or reset them to the installation's defaults. Perhaps that will work.
Do you have the problem with all or with select applications?

The DOS settings didn't get accidentally changed on each of over a half dozen machines over a years time.
The problem is most severe on large DOS applicatons, such as the Ingram disk based catalog. Just apply FixPack 13 or later, reboot, and DOS programs run much more slowly. Paging through a database is very much slower. Doesn't matter if the program is local or over the network.
In some cases, I've had to reinstall OS/2 and update to FixPack 11 to get the performance back.
