OS: OS/2 Warp 3.0
CPU/Ram: P4 128Mb DDR
Comment:

I have a military application that is required to run on a P4 system running Wwarp 3.0. I can successfully get warp 4.0 running but the Warp 3.0 install won't get past the intial screen. Errors appear to indicate RAM problems. Has anyone managed to get Warp 3.0 running on a P4 system.

Thanks

Scott

You need to go into the BIOS and set the OS/2 memory option to >64MB.

That should fix it.

I've seen this BIOS option on other motherboards but it's not part of the BIOS on the Intel board I have.

When OS/2 has memory problems ,it will issue a Trap message with a number. You can also get a message SYS followed by a series of figures. It is a known fact that OS/2 Warp 3 is very sensitive on memory issues particularly any parity error will stop the computer. These errors come from the way the motherboard is designed. Why do you need such a powerful machine to run the program?Good luck.

Beginning with all OS/2 Warp flavours this BIOS setting(>64MB) has absolutely no effect if you turn it on, its for OS/2 2.x. I think its just a loader issue like with older Warp4 fixpaks and 'newer' BIOS functions in the past.
I checked it on a Pentium4 machine (Celeron 1,7Ghz, 256MB RAM) running Warp3 with latest available Fixpak (#40) and a newer kernel/loader. I had some problems getting the mouse and keyboard working properly, you may encounter some problems if you want to use 512MB or more Ram...

you could use windows and a vmware virtual machine. you can specify the amount of ram and bios options.

We finally gave up on the Intel motherboard. Dropped a Gigabyte motherboard in and it ran first time.
Thanks to all who replied.
