I recently set up Warp Version 3 on an older PC for kicks; I had the PC, the OS/2 software, why not?
Unfortunately, I cannot get the 3C509b-TPO NIC installed. Here are (1) System and OS specs, (2) what I tried.(1) System and OS
A Compaq DeskPro 4/33i, 20 MB RAM, 3.5" floppy, old 120 MB drive. OS/2 Warp Version 3 installed from floppy set; includes install, 13 setup disks, and sets of printer and display driver disks.(2) What I tried:
first, downloading 3c509x2 disk from 3Com (which allegedly has drivers); when I try to install using the disk I generate, I get a "no profile control file found" error; as a matter of fact, I can't even find any OS/2 drivers on the 3Com floppy -even thought they are supposedly there.
Second, checked IBM website. I always come up with a variation on "the drivers are on the CD".
Third, tried finding Internet documentation on OS/2 NIC installs. No one seems to talk about it.Any help out there? I would like to try playing with this a bit; I am totally impressed with how well OS/2 runs on such a dinky platform, but without network support I won't be doing much...

previous post correct you need warp 3
connect or warp 4 for networking. drivers
from vendors are often listed as NDIS i
believe, something like that. they are
there just not under os/2 directory. you
do need the networking version of OS anyway

Previous post not entirely correct. you can Install Warp 3 then layer on laps and mpts which are components that should be able to be installed independtly of the OS

So where can I find the LAPS and MPTS "packages"? I was not aware that networking was not included with v3 and will probably buy Connect or v4. Any suggestions?
Thank you.
