HELP
Here is my system configuration:
Win95 mmxII
1 hard drives. Win 95 on drive C with no extra partitions
32 megs of memory
This is how the problem started.
I booted up my machine fine this morning. I checked email and then shut down my system normally. (#1) I come home tonight
and boot up my machine. I'm greeted by a dialog box that says that my registry file is corrupt and do I want to restore it to the
last known good backup. I press the button to restore it and then wait. I dialog box pops up saying do you want to restart your
computer. I select yes. The computer restarts and I wait while it reboots. (#2) While windows 95 is booting I'm greeted by a
message that says that there is not enough memory to load the registry or the registry is corrupt. At this point I'm then greeted
by a totally blue screen that says the following:
Invalid VxD dynamic link call from NWREDIR(04) + 000000D0 to device "0487", service 6. Your windows
configuration is invalid. Run the windows setup program again to correct the problem.
It says select y to continue or n to stop. I select y and am greeted by several more blue screens that say something similar. I
keep hitting yes until it finally gives me the dialog box that says the following:
Error while loading device VNETSUP error 6107. Could not setup instance data.
I hit ok and then I'm presented with a dialog box that says my registry is corrupt and do I want to restore the last known good
copy. I select y and then it pauses for a few seconds. Then I'm greeted by more blue bad VXD call screens. Eventually the
system shuts down and restarts.. When the system reboots again it follows the same path as step #2. Step #1 only happened
once.
I am able to do a safe start but it only takes me to a dos prompt and not into a Windows session. I tried rebooting from a
Norton rescue disk that I created awhile back but for some reason my system will not boot from floppy even though I have it
set in my CMOS setup. From the C: prompt in safe mode I ran Mcafee DOS virus scan with the latest virus dat file and both
drives C and D were reported clean. The only message I got when I ran virus scan was that some files may not be executable.
I am also able to get into ms-dos mode with CD-ROM drivers loaded.
If you know any way I can achieve all or some of the above please email me.
