I have the same problem. Did you find a solution? Does yours also say to boot from a boot disk?

9 out of 10 times it is caused by a bad hardrive. Try stripping all your parts except for the videocard, processor, keyboard and harddrive. If you still get the error, you will prob. need a new HD.

It shouldn't be your hard drive. Its your opperating system. One of the programs that you are loading probly corrupted your operating system. Try reloading.

More than likely you hard drive is fine what you need to do is boot to floppy and run fdisk/mbr. Your operating system or another program has corrupted your boot sector. note if you can't boot to floppy change your cmos
so it will only boot to floppy disabling all
other choices including boot to other device. Once you have fixed your boot sector don't forget to go to cmos and change back your boot to selections.

The boot sequence doesn't reach the boot from the floppy.
Someone has an idea?
Thanks

If it doesn't reach floppy boot Try changing the boot sequence from c,a to a,c. This worked for me to boot off a floppy but running fdisk didn't seem to make a difference. I'll try again tonight.

We switched the hard drive to a known good hard drive and didn't get this error. Windows booted, after installing the new hard drive. Therefore, we recommended a new hard drive to the owner.

Try disableing internal and external cpu cache in the bios then when your computer boots it should say
Verifying dmi pool data......Update success
(or somthing like that)

Then restart and re-enable the cpu cache. Then wgen it boots you should get the same message and it should continue to boot normally.

I did this over the weekend and it worked for me.

I just had a similar problem when building a new system (P4, 8IE Gigabyte Mobo, WD HD).

The difference for me was that I could not get to the Dos prompt when initially placing a boot disk into the floppy. It ALWAYS hung on verifying dmi pool data.

For me, it was the Hard Drive. Unfortunately, I troubleshot just about everything prior to that.

But, I finally grabbed an older, known good HD, and tested it successfully. I was able to fix my problem by simply reinstalling the HD (original problem must have been a cable connection one, I guess.)

I was having an unrealted problem with my hard drive so I bought a new one. I tried to install windows 2000 pro onto this one. I was able to copy to the drive. A message then told me to reboot, (make sure there isn't a floppy in the drive) and windows setup would continue at the startup. It has frozen at verifying dmi pool data. When I find an answer, (short of buying a new computer) I will share it. For now.... I keep searching for one.

I am having the same problem on DMI Pool Data Boot Failure. I have been troubleshooting all day. I put in new hard drive and did a fresh install. The computer worked fine for a day. While installing new programs the computer just shut itself off. Back to DMI Pool Data Boot Failure. I am ready to chuck the thing against the wall but it is my girlfriends. Could the error be coming from the cpu or motherboard? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Check to see if all your hardware is compatable. On occasion sound or video card drivers could cause issues like this...
Microsoft website has a HCL (Hardware Compatability List) and there you can see if your system components will work together and with the OS you are trying to load.
